Stumbling Home performs dirty acoustic soul served southern style, but with a honky-tonk punk perspective with lyrics that seem to roam the back roads of Americana. They keep it simple by writing irresistible songs, heavy with acoustic guitar and polyethnic percussion yet infused with intense and contemplative lyric.
The band captures heavier elements with depth and resonance while relying primarily on an acoustic sound. The band is based in the southern United States, however influences flow from global sources.
Stumbling Home is a mix of styles and sounds that blend and flow into a conversation arriving from distant places throughout the world into hometown, USA. From Virginia to Texas and Africa to Arkansas, each one of the band members brings a unique perspective and musical experience. Their essence, however, is Arkansas folk rock country soul learned from the long stretches of I-40 between Little Rock and Memphis into Nashville and up to Virginia. And all the small towns and delta fields in between.
Morris writes, sings and plays in a dirty soul southern style, with enough of an outlaw honky-tonk punk attitude to keep it between the ditches.
Phwandaphwanda's percussion is organic and persuasive. Twisting primal rhythms into a hypnotic trance state without use of the digital – just wood and skin. His voice is ancient and golden; yet painfully hopeful.
Rainey's percussion and bass talents are nothing less than flawless. As the bassist, drummer and sound engineer for Stumbling Home, he finds the pattern in the chaos and brings it all together.
